I volunteered to be a part of a college experience day for the 8th graders of Marshalls Middle School. Throughout the entire day I interacted with the 8th graders by showing them around my campus of UC Irvine, taking them into the laboratories, and even having lunch with them. They were very curious on how different college is from a regular K-12 school and I found it to be very exciting that I was able to share with them my experience so far at my school. One of the 8th graders even made a jingle for me: “like a good student, Jason is there. Boom!” Although it was only one day, I felt that I have built a relationship with these kids since not a lot of my younger peers were ever curious about my college experience.
